There are a few new members who will be receiving this as their first, and on behalf of the club, welcome…

Pondlife has been in contact with one or two of you via the website and I have even met a couple of you on the banks, We hope you have enjoyed your season so far?..

Bailiffing:

You may have had your membership books checked by club bailiffs during the season, if this is the case then thank you for your co-operation, if not then the bailiffs are sorry that they missed you and will catch up with you as soon as they can.

Please feel free to check that others that you find fishing our waters are actually members as some may not be and these guys are the ones that will push your subs up eventually….

Christmas Draw:

You will have received with this edition your Xmas draw tickets…  Please try and sell as many as you can & return the stubs & cash back in the envelope provided. The draw is just one way in which you can help the club and keep us afloat. Your tickets will need to be returned in good time so that they are included in the draw (Draw & venue are printed on the tickets).  We rely quite heavily on fundraising to supplement our income so please do your best.

Venue reports:

Cooks Pond:

Cooks pond has been fishing reasonably well again this season with the skimmer bream that were introduced continuing to grow on with some fish now over a pound in weight, sometimes also showing in considerable  numbers.  The veterans matches continue to be ever popular on this venue with eighteen or more anglers regularly taking part.

River Arun Stopham & Greatham:

Both have fished well again this year with both good bags of roach & dace as well as bags of bream being caught. Anglers are asked to be vigilant when fishing these waters as there have been reports of anglers fishing adjacent to the car park without permits under the misapprehension that it is “free “ fishing… This is NOT the case and everyone is encouraged to check permits on the bank.

River Rother, North Mill:

Pondlife has to report that those that have fished North mill have been experiencing mixed results. Some times it has fished reasonably well even when low & clear and at other times it has been a real challenge. Hopefully with a bit of autumnal rain to give a bit of colour there maybe some good sport to be enjoyed. The Mill pool gave member Wayne Fordham a surprise back in August when he landed this……..

PICTURE TO FOLLOW ONCE I CAN WORK OUT HOW TO GET IT HERE !!

Woolbeding

Always a fancied venue for a few chub, members have reported that there are numbers of good Dace and Roach to be had as well. Why not give it a try… You may be surprised what fish this relatively small venue holds. Although summer vegetation makes this venue a bit inaccessible now that it is dying down it is easier to get into some of those tight but very fishy looking places….

Rotherfield Pond:

As you may have noticed here has been an abundance of weed (Horn-wort according to the experts) at Rotherfield this season… After comments from anglers work parties were arranged to attack the problem.

Pondlife extends a vote of thanks on behalf of all of the members to everyone who turned out on the two warm Saturdays in August and got wet & muddy in the name of the club.

The venue has fished exceptionally well despite the weed with some good fish being landed including a 25lb mirror carp taken by Richard Slyfield, a brace of perch over 2lbs each and some good sized bream.

AND ANOTHER PICTURE TO APPEAR HERE REAL SOON…… HONEST !!

New Pond:

New Pond continues to fish well with the dredging paying dividends as far as summer levels are concerned. All species have been feeding well throughout the summer and some bumper bags have been seen.

Parking:

Members are still parking irresponsibly at a few of our waters whereby a few anglers seem to just abandon their vehicles in the middle of the car park especially at New Pond…  Please park sensibly as it annoys others when there is ample space but they cannot park because you can’t. Remember that parking is only allowed in the areas marked on the waters maps & park sensibly so that others can park too!

Website:

The club website is still up and running and there have been a few members posting on there this season. There are now also pages for match results, notices and for sale / wanted so if you are all dot commed up then take a look. Please be aware that for legal reasons ALL comments and postings submitted to the site are subject to moderation before they are published in the public domain.

Please remember to return your raffle tickets and it just remains for us to wish you all a very merry Christmas and tight lines for the new year.
